what a long way to travel in a short amount of time.. I went all the way to omaha and back over a course of 3 days. needless to say, I am tired. I don’t know how much I’ll be able to recount and write it all out tonight. tomorrow is monday, which means I get to sleep in and only go to school. I will absolutely need that.
I left thursday after school, which by the way, I spent all of classtime on thursday on my phone because I didn’t have anything to do; very stupid. regardless, I left on thursday and slept up in the mountains for the night during the lunar eclipse. it was nice being back in my tent outside for a night, getting to look up at the moon and stars and breathing fresh mountain air. I slept well but was back up at 5am to start my drive to omaha, which was an 8 hour drive.
it felt like a really long drive but being alone driving in my car with music was helpful to reset before I got there. I definitely slacked on calling people I really should have, felt super bad, but I need my no social time whenever I can get it. I got to my bestest friend’s house mid afternoon. he made sure it was cleaned and set up before I got there which was such a sweet gesture. he’s really kind and thoughtful and I am so deeply grateful to have a best friend who cares for me the ways he does. I am really grateful for all my close friends who would quickly do the same things for me, I’m surrounded by lots of love from you all! he got this super sweet runner rug he put going down his stairs that’s reminicent of roller rink carpet. such a cool addition, top notch.
I wasn’t able to get any down time in unfortunately, but I did get to chat with a friend of mine. I enjoy when she calls to chat, we get to talk about a lot of relating thoughts and behaviors between us. after that, I got ready to go to the first event of my 10 year reunion, which was a mixer/mingle at a restaurant/bar spot. I hadn’t ever been but it was a nice spot, more modern, white brick black tables type vibe.
let me tell you, every bit of participating in this weekend was worth it. seeing everybody who showed up was wild. so many people were excited to see me and really kind to me. it’s not surprising considering it’s 10 years later, but it was also weird mingling with everybody after so long. overall, I did enjoy myself. I did also get another surprise by seeing a mother/daughter that I used to cheer with their daughter/sister when I was super young. small world!
I’m getting too tired to continue on.. I’ll try to continue the saga tomorrow. overall, I was glad I went, saw who I saw, and had the experience I did. I am also VERY glad to be back home. the next school week starts tomorrow and I am looking forward to it. what are you all looking forward to this week in your big world?
