I love chocolate. as someone who practices a vegan lifestyle, I don’t often get access to sweets, so when I do, especially chocolate, I am stoked. my mom accidentally sent me a delivery meant to go to her that has her diet-fitting chocolate WHICH also happens to be vegan. AND there’s caramel. woot! anyway, total side note.
today was my brunch shift at the grove. I had a lot of fun. I am really still trying to adjust to the machine, but I feel like I’m fumbling left and right. it feels the same as when I haven’t socialized for a while, and then try to go back to work. frustrating, yes, but mostly just tiring. it’s a lot of effort to be right, and it’s more effort to be wrong and have to fix it. I have been fitting in better, but it’s still a battle. I just wish I could gather my brain thoughts better and participate in my daily a little more well put together, not so scattered. for some reason, I’m struggling with that right now. I don’t know how to do less. my brain is just on such a fast track. I guess it’s mostly the unmedicated ADHD but of course the surrounding environment is also a big part of it all. it’s all a lot. I am enjoying it, but it is a lot for me. I’m hoping I can hold out on my burnout throughout the year and stay in control of it.
the grove was slow. I am so very sad I can’t eat anything there besides specially made veggies. everything is made with such care and precision and a whole lot of love for the craft. otherwise, I spent the day doing homework and fighting my rooftop tent. oh man, yesterday was so frustrating with it. my cover has a hole in it and it’s been raining recently. as much as I try to keep a tarp over it, the tent inside definitely still gets wet. thankfully I do have another cover that came with the tent, however that one is a zipper, not velcro. overall, it is a much bigger challenge to attach and close everything up in it, but it does hold much better than the velcro one I had before. so anyway, yesterday, that tent was in definite need of being opened. while I was at it, I figured I’d change over my cover to the one without a hole. it didn’t dry all the way last night, so I thought I’d leave it open overnight and let it dry out.. poor decision. when I went outside to put my tent up so I could go to work in the morning, it was COVERED in dew. I tried to let it dry in the sun as much as I could before it had to go up so I could get to work but it was WET, and of course today was warm and it’s going to rain soon so it’s also pretty humid. thankfully, I got the tent open before it molded, but it sat in the sun for a few hours after I got home from work. getting the new cover on was an absolute pain, and I forgot to mention that I forgot my tent was open and had to try to replace the cover and close the tent in the dark with my headlight that kept flashing to inform me that it was dying. ahem.. ridiculous. so anyway, I couldn’t get the new cover to fit right before I went to work, so I just tied it down as best as I could and just dealt with it after work. that zipper is an absolute menace, but it works, and hopefully, I don’t have to open my tent again for a while.
school tomorrow, the door is open for appointments and walk ins. it would be nice to get someone in my chair. it would be really nice if it was a short haired cut. I am terrified of those and need practice on that more than long haired cuts. I also really need more abstract cuts in order to be able to learn how to put together a cut based on what I want the shape to look like. right now, that’s one of my biggest challenges. I’m dreading it and also just ready to get more comfortable. still in the stage where I feel like I won’t be getting the hang of this anytime soon. gotta have more confidence. that’s what I keep hearing. I’m confident I don’t know what I’m doing and I’m learning though. just one thing of many in this big world to learn about.
