I’m a bit behind on blogs, only by two days, but it’s good to recognize. yesterday and today have been wonderful days. I realized how much my schedule is weighing on me now that I have a break from school. I know this break is going to go so fast, not feel like a break, and then back to the grind. okay yesterday, heck, let’s see what I remember. work went well, but it was surprisingly busy. frankly, it was a bit annoying to have to work that much (first world problems). I’ve never had a tuesday be that busy. it went well and I kept up, but I was not expecting that. then onto school.
school went well and it was a pretty smooth day considering we had break coming up. it was mostly testing so the only reason I got my mannequins out was to do a couple shampoos and then I started some braids on one of them. I do enjoy practicing my braids on other heads besides my own. I think it’ll be a fun skill and something I can challenge myself at. most of the day was testing though so we didn’t even set up our stations. we were handed a rubric of our practical shaving final which outlined all the things we were going to be graded on. we did our written test on shaving, which I passed with a 96% (I only got one wrong out of 25). I shampooed and practiced before my practical. I mentally did significantly better than I did the facial practical. crazy how a little forewarning and a direct outline helps my brain not freak out as badly, hmm. as I went through it, I was doing my best but of course, the social aspect came out all wrong and to normal people, it’s kinda cute and quirky or just worth a chuckle, but honestly, tripping over what I might say to a client while performing on a mannequin was the only thing helping me get all the way through that. it was anxiety inducing, of course, but I passed with 100% woot! after school, I gave myself the night off to rest.
today went well also. it was busy again at the coffee shop, surprisingly. I wore one of my new shirts with musrooms all over it, which was complimented specifically by one man who then wanted to show me his godzilla shirt. I’ve never actually seen it, I know I need to, before yall freak out. this man got SO excited about godzilla and movies. it was so cool actually to watch him get so stoked about the thing he’s interested in. I’ve never seen that come out of him. I’m glad I cracked his shell a little bit. it was a very sweet moment.
after work, I called my mom and worked on lacing up everything I needed to for my halloween costume. it’s actually surprising how many things I had to lace myself. however, finally got that completed. called the pharmacy, which is always a time. I absolutely hate those automated AI responses you get when calling in so the AI can answer you instead of a person. the problem is, is that I ALWAYS need to talk to a person. I am fully aware that I need to speak with a live human being, the AI cannot do what I need it to, but yet, I have to tell it five times that I need to speak to someone before it finally transfers me. absolutely heinous. I didn’t get to rest really at all on my break between jobs.
I wore the same mushroom shirt that I wore to work earlier. honestly, it was a completely fine option for the evening, but I was freaking out that it was too loud in color for the grove. it really caused me a lot of anxiety for a bit of time. I probably will not be wearing that one back there. I always get questions about if I ingest or enjoy psychadelic mushrooms like that’s going to answer so many questions for people. at this point, it just feels kinda stupid when people ask. it was super slow at work but I cleaned the soda gun all shift, which, really doesn’t look like I’m doing much, but holy shit is that thing dirty. the hose is crusty as fuck. I literally sat there with a toothpick and pulled stuff out from in between all the tiny crevices. I’ve done this for the last two shifts of mine and I’m not even fully halfway done trying to pick out all the nasties from this hose. it’s icky for sure. I enjoy cleaning it though. it’s easy to pick up and put down when work actually calls.
I got asked to bring out the bottle of wine that I had poured a glass of previously, so I brought it out with a little white towel on my arm like the fancy places. it was just our polishing rag but I wanted to be fancy, ya know, make it nice. I got to the table, and the guy chuckled. my brain can take this a few ways, and I will tell you it was immediately him ‘laughing at me’ which kinda made me sad but also, I did it, had fun, it was cute and fancy, and also, why not? otherwise, I did make a few drinks. I made this drink for a couple sisters who were sititng at the table closest to the bar. the one visiting definitely is an eccentric hippy in a great way. flowy top, camo pants, tennis shoes, idk, it was great. I got to make her our new apple harvest spritz which I made all pretty and nice with a slice of apple on top sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. she absolutely loved it and was so estatic to enjoy her drink. I made myself a drink, as I usually do when I’m at work. I muddled mint, added fig puree and honey, and topped it with tonic. so good, wow. anyway, I gave them some to try. they were over the moon about how good it was. they gave me a huge compliment.. now, I don’t think I’ve told you about beau yet. beau is this man who is mysterious and deeply knowledgeable about alcohols, is a master mixologist, and is known and loved by all the regulars. I’m not sure what he’s doing, but he isn’t here. I’ve heard so much about him since I’ve been here. he’s a huge deal. the compliment I was given went something like “when beau was here, he used to mix random drinks and get so excited to bring us over some to try. when he left, we thought ‘there goes beau and his mixes and creativity’ but then you showed up and it’s back again”. that was a HUGE compliment to be compared to this god of a man everybody talks about. I will definitely treasure that for a bit. I made some drinks later for these two friends. I haven’t been measuring exactly how much I’m pouring for ingredients, however, four times, the drink I was making them, came out the PERFECT amount. it was divine. the last one I delivered, I brought the glass and the shaker over and poured it in front of them. one of the girls went “oh he’s smart. he just brings it over and pours it here!” and all I was thinking the whole time was “don’t open my mouth and ruin it”. to be even considered not a girl for a first impression is everything I’ve wanted. I can breathe better, but I know the second I open my mouth, that voice comes out and puts it right back to girl. it was a cool moment though.
anyway, work went well, my coworkers are awesome. I asked the kitchen to make me a salad, which they did, and it was SO pretty. I asked kinda last minute so I didn’t expect anything really, but it was so nice. I wish I would have gotten a picture of it, but I chowed pretty quick. ate the rest when I got home. finally showered, I don’t remember how long it’s been but the exciting part is that I got to use my glitter lotion and that’s just the best. now I sparkle. however, my sparkly ass needs to get to bed. oh also, I think I’ve finally arranged my plants the way I want them but also the way I think they’ll feel the best and then maybe I’ll leave them alone more. this is nice because two of my poor baby alocasias are struggling SO bad. I do hope they pull through. it’s been cold though so I get it. anyway, bed time for this little dude. what exciting thing happened in your big world today?
