I didn’t have to work this morning which was really nice. I got to sleep in and just go to school. I got up earlier than I planned and had a slow morning. I got to finally finish my book, yay! I’m excited to start a new one. I have SO many books to get through, all while I’m trying to do school and work. having another sleep in day was helpful but I already feel myself getting lazy and not wanting to go back. that’s also got a lot to do with my coworker, unfortunately. I’m honestly pretty upset that his presence causes me this much anxiety and physical feedback from my body. my body is already pavloved to get tight even on the drive over there. I am not at all excited for tomorrow morning. I do start evening shifts at the grove tomorrow also. I am much more excited to work there and diffuse the situation a little, having others around.
but, enough about what’s to come, let’s do today first. at school it was a theory day so our instructor lectured for a short while on shampoos and then we had the rest of the day to work on our mannequins. his lecture made the chapter feel a lot easier than it seemed to be going through it the first time. he only did lecture on a chunk of the chapter, not the whole thing. after lecture, my classmate asked if he could wash my hair so he could get a signature for our task list. so we went over and did that. we looked everywhere for the one shampoo our instructor said was vegan. turns out, it’s american crew that is vegan.
after that, I worked on an updo, which turned out basically just as a mom-do for a wedding. if you can picture that, you’re probably spot on. it turned out well though! signed off a couple things for that, then started working on a blow dry and curls. between the updo and the curls, I got asked a few times to come over to teach braids which I just think is adorable. HOWEVER, this man I was helping is much taller than me and I cannot see at his height so I got a chair from the classroom and stood on that which was absolutely a sight to see but necessary. I really was confident I could fishtail braid cause it used to be so easy and come naturally but I was struggling hard. I need a lot more practice on those but it was fun to try again.
my curls didn’t turn out great which I am by no means mad about. I was SO bored and just wanted to get them done honestly. I did improve, but I definitely need a lot more patience and practice. and the flyaways galors, oh my goodness. I am so tired of things ending up looking raggedy cause the hair won’t stay in place. practice makes progress though, so I will continue. curling hair was never something I did regularly enough to be proficient. my instructor did come up to me though and looked at me strange. I knew exactly why and it was because I was holding the curler the wrong direction. I said it before he could even get it out of his mouth. he was like “is that on purpose?” my response was “yes and no. I’m just so mind-numbingly bored that I don’t even care at this point”. he let me carry on. that took the rest of the class.
I dropped off a book in the little free library in town, got gas, then went home. immediately got out the notebook to study and made myself some food. I read through my notes and couldn’t get myself to do much more than that. tomorrow is going to come up quick. I have a long day before my test on thursday. I think I’ll be fine. I’ve been passing everything easily. I also have the highest GPA in the class which is really cool. otherwise, big rest before another day in the big world.
