fall is here!

yesterday was quite the day. started off with work in the morning, which went great. I seem to keep returning to the idea that I’m nauseated due to my busy schedule and not breathing enough, but truthfully, my nausea levels are non existent on saturdays.. the only day I don’t work with the problem coworker. there is a very clear cause and effect, I need to remember that. it’s quite frustrating. I enjoy work otherwise and saturday was great, no problems. I FINALLY got to make my instructor’s dad’s coffee. now this is like a really big deal. if he doesn’t see my boss, he won’t order coffee, like will not get coffee if my boss doesn’t make it. so yesterday, he came in and I was in the back. when I came up, he had been peeking around the corner trying to see if my boss was back there. I got up to the front and the very first thing he says to me is “so no boss today?” now mind you, I’ve only ever heard of this man. I’ve never seen him, don’t know what he looks like, but when he asked that question, I IMMEDIATELY knew who it was. so, I asked if he would take the chance on someone else (me) to make his coffee. he hesitantly agreed. I know some of his drink order so I said “caramel?” and he looked at me all funny and just said “extra hot”. anyway, got to make his coffee which was awesome. my instructor came in not too much later so I asked how it went over with his dad’s coffee and he didn’t even know his dad had been in. now that’s a huge sign, because my instructor ALWAYS knows when he’s visited the coffee shop.. more later.

after work, I decided to take a drive to see the fall colors. I wasn’t planning on taking as long of a drive as I did, but I ended up in Aspen. not a good decision to end up there specifically but the drive was awesome. SO many good colors. it was a 2.5hr drive from delta. Aspen was insane. definitely not a great first impression. it was busy and difficult to navigate. I wanted to go to the coffee shop in the hotel, where I previously applied for a summer position. it ended up being challenging to find, much dirtier and more dull than expected. THEN I tried to order my espresso, mind you, there is absolutely no signage on the counters for this, but I only brought cash, not knowing that they ONLY TAKE CARD. so by this time, I’m pissed off and overwhelmed and ready to get out to see more nature.

SO I decide I want to go to maroon bells. upon arrival, they require a reservation.. *sigh* so now it’s a double whammy issue with the plans so far. luckily, I turned around and drove down through marble, co. my boss told me there were big chunks of marble everywhere but I did not plan for really how MUCH marble there was everywhere, and HUGE chunks of it. it was a cool sight to see, in a really small town. driving through town, I drove right past the most poppin bbq spot in town which is basically the only thing that exists there besides the marble merchants. after driving past that, out of the corner of my eye, I caught a baby bear that had just crossed the road before I got there! I pulled over and got to see some bears just go right back into the forest! it was an awesome moment. going back, I found a waterfall. there was nobody there when I got there but by the time I got to the falls, there were 3 cars behind me. I got in and out pretty quick. I happened upon an amazing lake and sat there for a while, taking it all in.

the drive back was lots of fun, listening to so much music. I stopped by the grove when I got back into town for a drink. the front of house manager told me I was brave for coming in on a saturday night when it’s packed. I was like girl.. I’m half a gin and tonic in and I have shorts and an oversized shirt with a motorcycle on it. she just shrugged and giggled and then jokingly said something about bar backing. I did end up making a coworker coffee but it was pretty clear having my help would have improved the situation. I went home, chatted with my mom, watched the last episode of the willy wonka game show, and went to bed.

today was okay! it was a little stressful, but got better. sundays at the grove are fun and usually pretty busy. the owner’s daughter spilled her drink all over the counter and fridge which I spent time cleaning up and not attending to my customers very well. they all were very relaxed and didn’t mind the wait. THEN, I got to making their drinks and I SPILLED MY MILK PITCHER all over the counter and fridge.. after literally just cleaning up the other mess. story of my life, seriously.. so, being “behind” and also cleaning up spills was stressful but my boss was very chill and trying to get me to chill, like dude, it’s okay. it was really sweet. otherwise, work went well, though I didn’t pour great art today, but I’m learning and trying, so oh well, people can deal with my shitty art for now. I still make awesome coffee, which by the way, I found out the guy who’s coffee I made yesterday enjoyed it, which is actually a huge deal because he will not get coffee if my boss doesn’t make it. very exciting!

evened out my mood at work, made yummy drinks, talked to customers, the usual. it was a nice sunday, busy but not too crazy. after work, I went to the store. turns out they’re out of non dairy cream cheese which is a huge deal for me because of the plan change, so we’ll see how it goes. got more stuff to make fire cider, which I need to do SOON. did some homework, now I’m resting and about to go make spaghetti cause it’s a safe food and will make me feel better. things in this big world can be so topsy turvy, but the ride is the fun part.
