out of routine day

which to be fair, turned out quite well. I got to sleep in just a little this morning before getting up to get myself ready to go to the local VA hospital. me and five of my classmates went with our instructor to do some hair cuts. on the drive up there, I called my dad, finally (oops) since august 22nd. I actually got some space to talk and used it to chat about barbering school and where I live, and whatnot. surprising a bit to have space, but I’ll take it. the drive was really quite pretty. I enjoy driving to grand junction every so often. I am soaking up all my desert time as much as I can. I think I am absolutely terrified to move overseas. it’s a huge change and I’d leave a lot behind here. a little off topic but anyway..

I was the first to show up with my instructor, promptly on time, specifically a little early. as time went on, the other 5 were getting progressively later and later. at one point I was a little concerned considering the time. I called a classmate, who said they would be there in one minute. apparently, they thought there were only going to be 2 carpooling, and left some of the others behind, not knowing, so, they had to go back, which is why they were late. we all walked into their sunroom which was a really cool space to be in considering the floor to ceiling windows, and actually, they were curved up and over to become part of the ceiling. my type of room! we all set our stuff around one big table. there were already a few lined up when we got there to set up. whoever was set up took the next person. my classmate and I were the only two without haircuts, funny enough. at one point, I really did kinda give up hope that someone would come in. I did end up getting two short haired cuts finally! I enjoyed them, however, I’m struggling a bit to piece everything together and make it one piece in my brain. I’m glad I got the experience, but I do need a lot more help. I’m glad I finally got those in though so now I can have a couple under my belt. also, there was a guy who was 104! he definitely fell asleep during his hair cut which was the sweetest thing.

after the VA, I went to the hair supplies store with my classmates. we were like kids in a candy store. I had a lot of fun getting to see all of the different products and brands. I recognized quite a few. I ended up buying a sparkly lotion, and more hand soap cause the bottle was orange and adorable. I stopped by the costume store to browse, hten went on a sushi date with the girl I hung out with a couple weeks ago. sushi was GREAT. they had a whole vegan menu. I got sweet chili meatballs, a gin blossom, and had the waiter choose for me in terms of the actual sushi. she told about her current life ups and downs which are absolutely wild right now. I enjoyed spending more time with her. she went off to class and I came back home. I unpacked all my halloween outfit pieces and tried them all on. most of which are more work to put on than I expected but I am SUPER excited with what I chose. got some new halloween shirts that I am stoked ot wear. talked to me mum, and now here. ready for a big rest. happy to be here in this big world today.
